On August 8, 2020, our city experienced heavy flooding causing damage to many businesses and residences. Historic Staunton Foundation is fine, but many of our neighbors are working hard to clean and mitigate damage. please contact the Staunton Downtown Development Association and the City of Staunton for recovery needs and additional support information. SDDA is also helping with volunteer coordination – there is much to accomplish.

June 1, 2019, HSF’s Brown Bag focused on The Wharf which has experienced many floods with one of the most destructive occurring in 1896. Rebecca Joyce, program manager for the Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission, joined HSF board member Sharon Angle to share their experience in flood mitigation and urban planning.
