Staunton Neighborhoods: a Town within a Town

(rescheduled March Brown Bag session)

Our Brown Bag Series will focus on Staunton’s neighborhoods for the next few months: where are they, what anchors them, and how we support their presence into the future.

Please join Staunton landscape architect Amy R. Arnold for a discussion about formerly independent communities absorbed into the city limits at particular points in Staunton’s history: a town within a town. We will look at their location, annexation, and future within the larger context of the City as a whole.

Communities discussed will include Plunkettville to the west of central Staunton and the post-Civil War historic African American Community of Uniontown to the east. Discussion will address how to begin supporting and strengthening these and other older neighborhoods, unique and fundamental to the overall history and character of the City.

Free and open to the public.
